Stay The Course: Text Of The Address By Buhari To Leaders And Elders Of APC

APC presidential candidate Gen. Buhari addressed leaders and elders of the APC today Feb. 17th at the Shehu Musa Yar'Adua centre in Abuja. Below is the text of his address...
The National Chairman Chief John Oyegun, thank you very much for your speech. Leaders and elders of our party, I want to join the Chairman in welcoming you all to this meeting. In the last two months, we have travelled the length and breadth of this country, we have heard the cry of our people and we have told them that we hear their cry – the cry for change.

As you are all aware, our country is passing through trying times imposed on us by the bad PDP administration. The imminent change in answer to the yearnings of our people has been delayed by the postponement of the February 14th, 2015 elections. Our patience and resilience will be tested in the days ahead. We must pass this test. In a time like this, which in football analogy can be referred to as extra time, we must avoid making costly mistakes. In the weeks ahead, I would like to implore you to remain true to the vision – to build a country that works for all of us and not just for the few. To rescue and stabilise our nation from the hands of plunderers. On this, I believe we are all agreed.

The important issue today is that we must use the next six weeks that have been imposed on us, to re-charge and re-focus on our goal. The goal is to win the elections now slated for March 28th and April 11th with a convincing majority. We should aim to achieve a victory that will be beyond dispute and proceed to form the next government and start work on the task of rebuilding our beloved country.

Our eyes must be on the objective to build a great society that works for all of us. A country where every child has an equal opportunity to get an education, where every young Nigerian who needs a job can find one. Where the sick are looked after and senior citizens are provided for. A country which gives value to human life, where the welfare and security of all is a national priority and corruption is defeated.

However, I must not fail to mention at this point, one issue which has become topical in the last few days and that is the worrisome revelations by Capt. Sagir Koli about how he, a serving officer at that time, was deployed, with other serving officers, some more senior in rank to work with key politicians of the PDP to rig the Ekiti elections. Up till now, there has been no official denial of this most unfortunate event. It makes me wonder, in the circumstances that led to shifting of the date of the Federal Elections, whether the security services are even now being prepared to play similar roles in the March 28th and April 11th elections. Let me reiterate once more that our security services have serious constitutional responsibilities to the people of the nation and so their importance to the health of the country cannot be under estimated. It is therefore imperative that their leaders must not drag these invaluable institutions into the realm of partisan politics.

I personally and, am sure, all Nigerians, have tremendous respect for our security services. I therefore urge strongly that they stick to, and concentrate on, their constitutional duties, otherwise they stand the risk of becoming part of our already complicated national situation.

I am deeply encouraged by the very high degree of cooperation and commitment to our common purpose of changing Nigeria for good that you all have exhibited in our campaign. I have noticed many of us embarked on our campaign trips without carrying a change of clothing hoping to return home the same day only to spend the night on strange beds because the dynamics of the campaign required that they spend the night away from home. You have ignored in some cases personal health challenges and given yourself to the campaign effort just to be part of the movement for change.

There are some of you who lost in the various primaries to choose candidates for our party during these elections and rather than being disappointed you have thrown your energies and resources to the campaign not minding your personal losses. And there are others who have been made mind boggling offers by our opponents in a bid to break our ranks and curtail our momentum in the march to change Nigeria for good, yet you have chosen to be on the side of a cause that is just.

I therefore appeal to you all party leaders and faithful not to rest thinking that all is won. Six weeks is a long time and we do not know the plans of the other side but with our strong resolve we will prevail.

Therefore let us keep our eyes on the ball. Let us work as we have never done before, and let us watch and help each other. The days and weeks ahead will be tough. Our resolve will be tested and all kinds of evil tricks will be on display. But do not despair. The goal is in sight. Change is coming. The people of Nigeria will prevail. God has destined Nigeria to be a great country. We shall overcome and Change shall be achieved.

God bless you all, God bless the APC and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Thank you.

Man Beats Wife Terribly On Their Wedding Night

A bride was brutally beaten by her husband on their wedding night because he couldn't undo her dress. Amy Dawson was pinned to the floor by Gavin Golightly just hours after tying the knot in a romantic ceremony in County Durham in August.

The 22-year-old had asked her new husband for help getting out of the white dress she was wearing when he launched the violent attack. Golightly, 29, said he was under the influence of drugs and could not remember the incident but pleaded guilty to assault at Peterlee Magistrates Court.

Miss Dawson, who shares a child with the man, said the attack was so severe she thought it would kill her.

'When he lashed out on me on my wedding night I thought I was going to die. I was terrified.

'He looked like he was going to kill me.

'Eventually, I escaped and found a hotel porter, who called the police.

'It was such a lovely day, and I was devastated it ended the way it did. It was a huge celebration full of friends and family, and I thought it would have been the fresh start we needed.'

After getting married in St Mary's Church in West Rainton, the couple held their reception at nearby Beamish Hall.

Shortly before 1am, the couple retired to a room in the hotel where Ms Dawson tried to get undressed.

'At 12.55am, the following morning, they went to their room, which she was helped towards by a night porter,' said prosecutor Sarah Traynor.

'The defendant then tried to undo Ms Dawson’s dress. She received a crochet (to undo the dress with), but the defendant then refused to undo his new wife’s dress.
'The defendant then jumped up from his chair, approached Ms Dawson and pushed her over.

'He then sat on top of her and started punching her with clenched fists. He then got up and left the room. It appears that the defendant then came back to the room.

'The defendant said he has no recollection of the event, adding that he must have had his drink spiked.

'He remembers waking up in a hotel room and said he does not get angry when he takes drugs.

'Ms Dawson had a cut above her left eyebrow and some bruises to her face and chest area.'

Ms Dawson added said her husband had changed dramatically since she fell pregnant eight months after their relationship began.

'When I first met Gavin, he was lovely. I couldn't fault him.

'He was caring and loving, and when we found we were having a baby we were delighted.

'I fell pregnant after eight months but almost straight away Gavin became controlling and manipilative.

It was like walking on eggshells.'
Golightly from Sunderland, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm at a court hearing last month.

He was given a 12 month community order and a restraining order preventing him from contacting his wife.

Ms Dawson has slammed the sentence as too lenient.

'The community order was far too soft. The restraining order is the only thing keeping me strong. He means nothing to me now.'

Chairman of the bench Paul Elliott, told Golightly: 'You do know that when your custody report was asked for, custody was an option because this was a serious assault.

'But your early guilty plea and mitigation mean that we will give you a 24-month community order with the requirement of supervision.'

He was also ordered to pay £200 in compensation to her, £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Samuel Eto'o Buys 'Cursed' Mansion

image

Former Cameroon international, Samuel Eto’o, has bought an Italian mansion for £18.5 million despite locals warning him it is haunted by the curse of the Tutankhamen.

According to popular Italian daily, Corriere Dello Sport, the former Chelsea and Everton forward who recently signed for Serie A side Sampdoria has purchased the historic property in Portofino, near Genoa in northern Italy.

image

The property, called Villa Altachiara, was previously owned by Lord Carnarvon, who was known to be jinxed with the “Curse of the Pharaoh”.

Carnarvon was working with English archaeologist Howard Carter when they discovered the tomb of Ancient Egyptian ruler Tutankhamen, opening the “cursed” burial plot on February 16, 1923.

Many believe those who opened the tomb of “The Boy King” – the richest burial site ever found – were subsequently cursed.

Famously, of the 58 people present when Tutankhamen’s long-lost tomb was opened, eight died within 12 years.

Carnarvon’s death was quite strange too as he died after he got an infection from a mosquito bite on his face while shaving. His nephew died in the Villa by falling down the stairs.

In 2001, former Gucci model and heiress Countess Francesca Agusta vanished from the cliff-top property.

Despite those scary stories, Eto’o went on to buy the property which has 40 rooms on a 30,000 square-metres of land.

Explosion Rocks APC Rally In Okrika, Rivers State

The governorship campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okrika, Rivers state, ended abruptly on Tuesday with “two explosions” and sporadic gunshots that sent the crowd fleeing from the campaign venue.

Three improvised explosive devices had initially gone off close to the venue, but the supporters of the party reconvened awaiting the arrival of Dakuku Peterside, the APC gubernatorial candidate in Rivers.

The air was charged when Dakuku finally arrived and his supporters began singing.

“Under the rain, under the sun, we go follow Dakuku,” they were singing and dancing, until unknown persons began shooting sporadically and everyone, including journalists covering the event, scuttled to safety.

Okrika is the hometown of Patience Jonathan, Nigeria’s first lady.

Obasanjo's Defection: PDP Releases Press Statement

Press statement from the PDP regarding Obasanjo's exit today. Read below...
The leadership Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has received the news of the decision of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to withdraw his membership of our great party. We have also carefully examined the circumstances and the reasons adduced for this unfortunate decision.

While we concede to the inalienable rights of every citizen to hold opinion and to decide who to associate with, we are however deeply saddened that Chief Obasanjo, a revered leader of our party, our first Presidential flagbearer whom the PDP offered the platform to rule our nation for 8 years, could decide to abandon this party at this critical point in time.

This is especially as Chief Obasanjo, who was also the Chairman of the highest advisory organ of the PDP, the Board of Trustees (BOT) discountenanced all pleas by elders and leaders of our great party with regard to his reservations on certain issues within our fold.

Many Nigerians are still bewildered as to what manner of provocation could have led a former President to lose his composure and go to the extent of tearing the membership card of the party that he once led.

Indeed, the PDP is hugely at loss as to how the decision and action of the former President who had enjoyed the benefits of being elected to the highest position of leadership will assist in deepening our democracy and stabilizing the polity.

It is our considered opinion that no matter the provocation, a statesmanly disposition from a person of Chief Obasanjo’s status could have encouraged our citizens and help in stabilizing system.

We believe however, that what this country needs now is patriotic actions that engender national unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence of our people irrespective of political, ethnic and religious persuasions. The overall interest of our nation and well-being of our citizens must remain paramount and above all personal and group interests.

Finally, we direct all our members across the country to remain focused on our campaigns and not to be distracted on this issue. With an array of credible candidates led by our Presidential flag-bearer, President Goodluck Jonathan, we are sure that we will emerge victorious come March 28 and April 11, 2015 general elections.

Five Youths Shot Dead By Soldiers In Maiduguri

Five youths were on Monday shot dead by soldiers during a confrontation in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

The victims, who were members of the youth vigilante group in the town, had allegedly accosted a convoy of the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army, with headquarters in Maiduguri, escorting ammunition that came in through the Maiduguri International Airport in a private commercial trailer.

It was learnt that the youths had blocked most of the roads in the town as a security precaution against any attack during the campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), in the town.

The youths reportedly asked to check the trailer and when the soldiers refused, they (the youths) forcefully climbed the vehicle and also made a bonfire on the road to make it difficult for the soldiers to move the trailer.

The action of the youths was said to have angered the soldiers, who, according to eyewitnesses, resorted to shooting at the youths.

The five died in the confrontation while many others sustained injuries.

Borno Declares Public Holiday Today For Buhari

Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd)

The Borno State government has declared Monday 16th of February 2015, a work-free-day for the visit of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) to the state.

Secretary to the state government, Alhaji Ahmed Jidda, announced this on Sunday in a statement in Maiduguri, the state capital. Jidda said that the public holiday would enable residents of the state to receive Buhari during his campaign rally.

The statement read, “The Borno State Government has declared Monday as a work-free day. The declaration is to enable the people of the state welcome the APC presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, who will arrive Maiduguri on a campaign visit on Monday.

“Governor Kashim Shettima has enjoined all Borno residents to come out en mass and line up the streets to welcome the Peoples’ General.”

Meanwhile, the National Christian Elders Forum on Sunday dissociated itself from the purported endorsement of Buhari by the Northern Christian Leaders Eagle-Eye Forum, led by one Pastor Aminchi Habu.

The Secretary of NCEF, Pastor ‘Bosun Emmanuel, in a statement issued in Abuja, advised Christians “to resist the temptation of putting personal interests above the interests of the Lord Jesus Christ, because such compromise has terrible eternal consequences.”

Emmanuel also called on politicians “to put the interest of the nation first in all forms of electioneering campaign and desist from acts that could be interpreted to imply desperate manipulation of the electorate for political power.”

His statement partly read, “It has come to the notice of the NCEF that an unaccredited group, claiming Northern Christians Leaders Eagle Eye-Forum, purportedly on Thursday February 12, 2015, in Abuja, adopted the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming elections, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

“The National Christian Elders Forum wishes to state clearly that the only Northern Elders Forum accredited and recognised by the Christians Association of Nigeria is the Northern States Christian Elders Forum.

“The Elders Forum hereby declares that neither CAN, NOSCEF nor the NCEF at any time supported or approved of the action of this unaccredited group. The National Christian Elders Forum wishes to admonish Christian leaders in Nigeria to resist the temptation of putting personal interests above the interests of the Lord Jesus Christ, because such compromise has terrible eternal consequences.

“The Elders Forum also advises politicians to put the interest of the nation first in all forms of electioneering campaign and desist from acts that could be interpreted to imply desperate manipulation of the electorate for political power.”

'Obasanjo Is Not God'- President Jonathan's Supporters

Jonathan, Obasanjo

The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation has told former President Olusegun Obasanjo to stop playing God over his numerous criticisms of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The organsiation was reacting to the claim by Obasanjo that President Jonathan was planning to perpetuate himself in office.

Apart from this, the former President also accused Jonathan of planning to cause chaos if he lost the March 28 presidential election.

But the Director of Media and Publicity of the organsiation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, debunked the allegations, saying the former President under whom he served as Minister of Aviation and Special Assistant on Public Communication, was trying to play God.

Fani-Kayode, who spoke at a press briefing in Abuja on Sunday, accused his former boss of trying in vain to control President Jonathan.

He said the problem between the two members of the ruling party had nothing to do with Nigeria, and called on the former President to leave Nigeria out of the issues between him and the President.

He said, “The bottom line is this: President Obasanjo’s grouse with President Jonathan is personal and it has nothing to do with Nigeria.

“He should leave Nigeria out of it and let us all be. If he has a personal score to settle with Jonathan he should not do so at the expense of the peace and stability of Nigeria.

“If he wants to stop Jonathan then let him attempt to do so through the democratic process and through the ballot box and not through foul and unconstitutional means.

“We said it before and we will say it again: gone are the days that any President can be tele-guided and controlled because we have all come of age.

“We continue to hold President Obasanjo in high esteem but his recent actions and utterances are beyond the pale. He has been unfair to Jonathan, to Nigeria and even to himself.

“Most importantly the days of intimidating others with his harsh words and overbearing influence are long over. Obasanjo is not God.

“Only God is God and He alone determines the fortunes of men and the destiny of nations.”

Fani-Kayode said that after Jonathan came to power, Obasanjo did not only try to control and tele-guide the President, but he also asked him to do a number of things that he said were simply wrong and unacceptable.

Asked to tell Nigerians those issues, he refused. He merely said that the President would speak on the matter anytime he likes.

IN SEARCH OF DISCIPLES- DELE MOMODU

image

Fellow Nigerians, what should have been a special Valentine for Nigerians this year was cleverly terminated and postponed last week by INEC. The much anticipated elections would now start on March 28 and conclude on April 11, 2015. Not to worry, life continues. No matter the motives behind it, whether genuine or mischievous, it gladdens the heart that the decision was taken in good faith by all, albeit reluctantly.
In the spirit of that renewed determination to keep our peace before, during and after the elections, we must continue to run issue-based campaigns irrespective of who we support. I was sent a very irresistible article this week by Professor Kayode Oyediran, the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan. I found both his intervention and topic very relevant to the present situation in our country. I believe many of our young readers have a lot to learn and enjoy in this beautifully written piece which I couldn’t stop reading once I started. On a lighter note, it seems Taureans have the gift of the pen. Professor Oyediran and I share the same birthday of May 16.

Please enjoy my very special guest this week, a most distinguished scholar and administrator…
Four recent publications in several national dailies illustrate various dimensions of discipleship which has become a topical concept not only in Nigeria but globally. They are: “The chance of prosperity versus poverty of austerity” by Bola Ahmed Tinubu; “PMS pump price reduction and the economy: My take-away” by Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN; “Buhari vs Jonathan: Beyond the election” by Charles Chukwuma Soludo; and “Buhari has not satisfied the constitution – Adebanjo” being an interview of Chief Ayo Adebanjo. These publications addressed several current national issues, and gave insight into the perceptions, priorities and prejudices of the respective authors, and illustrated the various manifestations of discipleship.
Tinubu’s article is a well-researched critique of the macro-economic policy of the Federal government, and a spirited articulation of his preferred strategy for the creation of wealth and jobs. Fashola similarly presented a constructive critique of the government’s policy on the price of fuel. Soludo critically reviewed the economic policies of the Jonathan government as well as the proposed policy of the opposition party, APC. Whether one agrees or disagrees with the views expressed in the three articles, it cannot be denied that each addressed issues, and articulated researched, reasoned, balanced arguments; they criticized extant policy and practice, and presented alternatives. To that extent they were in the tradition of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Indeed in his article Soludo acknowledged this hallmark of the sage.

In his interview Chief Adebanjo declared his preference for President Jonathan and his aversion to General Buhari’s candidature in the imminent presidential elections; he admonished the people of the South-West to support Jonathan in order to avoid “making a big mistake and digging their own graves”; he emphasized that his position was based on “principles”; he explained that, because he and his colleagues in their faction of Afenifere are “strictly Awolowo’s disciples”, they do not “modify Awo’s principles for our(their) own interest”. He did not elaborate on the “principles”.
Chief Adebanjo’s choice of candidate – indeed the choice of any Nigerian – cannot and should not be questioned, and he need not proffer any reason for it. However if, as in this case, he decides to give reasons for his choice, it is legitimate to examine the reasons proffered. Therefore I wish to comment on four of the reasons presented by Chief Adebanjo namely: implementation of the recommendations of the 2014 national conference, the character of General Buhari, the qualifications of Buhari, and the suitability of Professor Osinbajo as Vice-Presidential candidate.
Chief Adebanjo stated that he is supporting Jonathan “because he is the only man who can implement the recommendations of the national conference which was set-up to bring equity to Yoruba land and Nigeria”. He asserted that the conference produced the panacea for Nigeria’s problems, and “—that is why I am insisting that all the recommendations of the confab should be implemented before the elections because the inequality this country has been suffering all this while has been rectified with the recommendations of the confab. All the things that could cause us conflicts have been rectified.” It is rather simplistic to suggest that, by itself, the recommendations of the 2014 conference – or any other conference for that matter – constitute a magic wand to sweep away all the problems of Nigeria. It is also internally inconsistent to insist that the recommendations of the conference must be implemented before the elections and simultaneously affirm that Jonathan, who is yet to submit the conference report to the National Assembly six months after it was presented to him, is the only man who can implement the recommendations. Could it be that those who described the conference as diversionary are correct? Could it be a repeat of a similar exercise during the second term of President Obasanjo?
Chief Adebanjo asserted that “as a NADECO man” he cannot support a former military dictator like Buhari. He described Buhari as a “fundamentalist” whose tenure as the boss of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) was tainted with corruption. I share Chief Adebanjo’s aversion for military dictatorship. However it is possible for a Saul to become a Paul. Buhari’s track record during the current political dispensation demonstrates that he believes in and submits to democracy and the rule of law. Furthermore Obasanjo was a military dictator who became President in a civilian democratic dispensation. His re-election in 2003 for a second term was supported by Chief Adebanjo and his colleagues Obasanjo, who set-up two panels to probe the PTF, stated publicly that Buhari’s hands are clean, but Chief Adebanjo asserted that “—Obasanjo was trying to cover him (Buhari) up” because “—the issue of the N25 billion ---is all in the report”. People like me who have not seen the report would have appreciated it if he had quoted the relevant parts. Corruption is a major endemic problem in Nigeria which should be fully exposed and condemned when and as opportunity permits. It is therefore unfortunate that Chief Adebanjo stated: “When they talk of corruption in Jonathan government, I won’t say the government is clean, but those who are talking about corruption, how clean are they themselves?”
Chief Adebanjo described Buhari as an Islamic fundamentalist, and “a man who said he was going to work for the operation of Sharia throughout the country”. I do not know whether Buhari said so, but I am confident that the pursuit of such a venture would be futile. I also recall that a widely publicized allegation that Buhari had said he would make Nigeria ungovernable turned out to be false; Reuben Abati and the Guardian newspaper published an unreserved apology to Buhari in the Guardian of 11th July, 2013. However action, it is said, speaks louder than words. It is instructive that when Buhari was the military Head of State he refused to make Nigeria a member of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC); he cut in half the number of Nigerian pilgrims going to Mecca for the Hajj, and directed that they should be given only their Basic Travel Allowance (BTA); the majority of his cabinet and of the military governors he appointed were Christians; he had and still has several Christian personal staff (personal assistant, cook, driver etc.). Clearly the available facts indicate that the description of Buhari as an Islamic fundamentalist is reprehensible scare-mongering. It is relevant to note that, whereas Nigeria became a member of the OIC during the presidency of General Babangida, the first and only incumbent Head of State to attend a summit of the OIC was President Jonathan on 6th February, 2013 in Cairo where his host was President Morsi of Egypt, the fundamentalist leader of the Moslem Brotherhood.
Chief Adebanjo questioned the qualification of Buhari to contest the Presidential election. He asserted: “What the law says is this; you must have a school certificate before you can qualify. ---------Buhari has not satisfied the constitution.” Careful reading of the relevant sections of the constitution will demonstrate to even the proverbial ordinary Nigerian that these statements are most incorrect; the expositions of several senior members of the bar in the dailies provide confirmation. Coming from a man of Chief Adebanjo’s stature, the statements are surprising, disappointing and embarrassing.
Chief Adebanjo described the selection of Professor Yemi Osinbajo as Buhari’s running-mate as “a gimmick”. He stated that Osinbajo: “—is a distinguished lawyer and a nice gentleman---has no political experience ---Tinubu brought him in as Attorney General, he was never in politics --- he is from Ikenne but does he know the politics of Ikenne?” This is most amazing! Chief Adebanjo knows that Osinbajo is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria who became a Professor of Law at the University of Lagos over two decades ago, served as Adviser to Prince Bola Ajibola when the latter was Attorney General of the Federation in the late eighties, and gave widely-acclaimed meritorious service as Attorney General of Lagos State for two terms from 1999. In addition he has served with distinction in several capacities nationally and internationally, including the United Nations. He is clearly a distinguished lawyer who has cognate experience of governance by virtue of his eight-year membership of the cabinet of the Lagos State Government. The point is not that Chief Adebanjo should support the choice of Osinbajo. Rather it is his implied belief that knowledge of the politics of Ikenne –whatever that is – constitutes an/the important criterion in the selection of a candidate for the post of Vice-President!
Chief Adebanjo is well-known as a long-standing political associate of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and proudly asserts that he and his colleagues are disciples of the sage. The contributions of the sage to public discourse were always characterized by focus on issues, constructive criticism, and clear articulation of well-researched balanced arguments. . The statements in the interview reviewed do not reflect these hallmarks.

A disciple is a follower of the doctrines of a leader, teacher or school of thought. The quality of discipleship is a function not only of loyalty but also the disciple’s perception or understanding of the doctrines. The availability of relevant literature promotes discipleship, and facilitates assessment of its quality. Thus the Bible and Koran make it possible to evaluate the utterance and actions of self-professed Christians and Moslems. It is a blessing that the books written by Chief Awolowo, as well as lectures which he delivered and his contributions in parliament are readily available. They make it futile for any individual or group to claim proprietary rights to the sage.
End note: my sincere thanks to Professor Kayode Oyediran, the author of the above article, for being a mentor and major inspiration since I started my writing career around 1986. Indeed, he has been a mentor and great inspiration to many of us, especially his son-in-law and my best friend, Prince Adedamola Aderemi. Don Jazzy Unveils Girlfriend

image

The leader of the Supreme Mavin Dynasty (SMD), Michael Collins, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has finally unveiled the identity of his girlfriend.

The multi-talented producer made this known via his social media account to show off the beautiful lady saying nothing could stop their progress.

The pictures were unveiled with lyrics from new single, 'Katapot', by one of Mavin's new act, Reekado Banks-
If them like make them fire katapot of envy, throw us bomb of jealousy, dey stand dey eye our progress, dem no fit put asunder, I swear they cannot stop our love,” he wrote.

“When we dodge their #Katapot na #Godwin ooo,” he said in another picture.

Don baba J as he is fondly called, had always said he was scared of relationships, blaming his trust issues as the reason for his relationship phobia.

He had not been forthcoming about exposing his girlfriend or relationship to the public, saying almost all blogged relationships in the celebrity sphere failed.
For most people, this is a most welcome news but to some hopefuls who would have loved to fill the position, don't be a bad belle o and don't chop the lady's head off.

Doyin Okupe Reply Obasanjo Over His Endorsement of Buhari

OBJ 1

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe has reacted to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s prediction that a new government will be formed on May 29, 2015.
Reacting on Tuesday night, Okupe wrote on his Facebook page:

"Someone was reported to have said /A new government will be installed on the 29th of may 2015.'
Lamentations 3 vs 37 says “Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass when the Lord commandeth it not? Isaiah 7 vs 7 says “Thus sayeth the Lord God, it shall not stand neither shall it come to pass.”

Please if you are a friend of President Jonathan say AMEN to this,” Okupe pleaded.

It would be recalled that while speaking on election postponement, Obasanjo had during an interview with the Financial Times in Nairobi on Monday said: “I’ll only go by the constitution. By our constitution, there must be a new government on the 29th of May and the constitution lays out how that new government should emerge.”

Obasanjo also endorsed the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari.

Esogban of Benin Kingdom - If You like Postpone Election 20 Times, we wont Vote Jonathan

The Esogban of Benin Kingdom and Chairman of Benin Forum, which embodies all Binis in Nigeria and the Diaspora, Chief David Edebiri, has declared that notwithstanding the postponement of the general elections by INEC, the Binis will not vote for President Goodluck Jonathan. The Binin Forum is also the mouthpiece of the revered Benin monarch, Oba Erediauwa.

He identified one of the sins committed by President Jonathan against the Binis as the
Taking away of the only position given them by late President Musa Yar’Adua, which was Minister of State for Works occupied by Engr Chris Ogiemwonyi, saying, “he took the position and gave to his ex-wife Stella Oduah who comes from Anambra state and even made her a full Minister.”

Chief Edebiri then alleged that, “what was for the Benins was taken to Anambra by the present administration. Is that why the Benin people will vote for the PDP? Besides robbing the Benin people of the Ministerial appointment, the home of the former Minister (Engr. Ogiemwonyi) was completely broken by the action of the presidency...

“Is that what they have done for the Benin people that will make us to vote PDP? Impossible. If they want to postpone elections 20 times the people are here waiting for them. The consequences of what Jonathan has done will be very grievous for him and his party.

“You met a man who was appointed half Minister by previous administration, his people in Benin voted massively for you during the elections, you now want to compose a new executive, you dropped him and took his wife who comes from across the Niger.

“Consequently this home became divided and irretrievably broken. Robbing Benin of their Ministerial appointment, destroying their son’s home for the interest of some people in Abuja.

And this time around you are coming to campaign here that we should vote for you, it is not possible, that we will vote for such people because the Benin nation has been sidelined with ignominy in the present arrangement,” said the Bini Chief.

He said further, “Nothing the Federal government can come to point to in Edo state that this is what we have done in the last four years. We have a governor who is performing. We have a governor we all love because of his developmental strides.

“The same Federal government is starving the state government of funds, they don’t want the government to perform any more for us. How do we vote for people like that? The die is cast, whether they like it or not the defeat of the present Federal Government is imminent and irreversible.”

Nigeria's 'Boko Haram' Militants Attack Chad for first time

Fighters crossed Lake Chad in four motorboats and attacked a village, an army spokesman told the BBC.

The Islamist militants were pushed back by Chadian troops after killing several people, residents said.

Chad recently joined Nigeria, Niger, and Cameroon in a military coalition against Boko Haram.

The jihadists, who want to create their own Islamic caliphate in Nigeria, have killed thousands and forced millions to flee their homes in north-eastern Nigeria since 2009.

'Homes torched'

Colonel Azem Bermandoua Agouna, of the Chadian military, told the BBC's Thomas Fessy that the militants had killed one soldier and wounded a further four in the village of Ngouboua.

Mr Agouna said a local chief was killed during the attack by a stray bullet. He did not confirm reports of other civilian casualties.

Two Boko Haram militants were killed and five injured, he said. Residents put the number of attackers at around 30 and said they torched two-thirds of the village's homes.

"They came on board three canoes and succeeded in killing about 10 people before being pushed back by the army," one resident told Reuters.

Chadian military aircraft carried out air strikes against the militants in response, destroying their vessels, officials said.

Chad formed a military alliance in January with Nigeria, Niger, and Cameroon, aimed at defeating Boko Haram.

Chad, seen as having the region's most effective military, has conducted airstrikes against the jihadist group in both Nigeria and Niger, and stationed its troops in the border areas around Lake Chad.

The Islamist militant group has intensified its attacks against Nigeria's neighbours in response, forcing thousands of residents to flee their homes.

Approximately 7,000 people fled to Ngouboua after Boko Haram attacked the Nigerian border town of Baga in January.

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau denounced the president of Chad, Idriss Deby, in a video released shortly after the coalition was formed and declared "war" on Chad.
